Take your dynamic events research to the next level with flash X-ray
“If a research team has reached a technology limit in their research, they might consider moving to the next level and use flash X-ray”
From visual obstruction to fast moving objects, flash X-ray let’s you see the nearly impossible events that aren’t visible to the human eye.
The need for speed
Researchers are looking for results that answer their questions. Sometimes they need to see the nearly impossibe – things that are invisible to the human eye. Quite often, they can use traditional X-rays, but only to see inside static objects. When the objects or components they need to study are in motion, then “continuous” X-rays aren’t very useful.
The magic of what our flash X-ray technology can do, is we take approximately the same power you might use in a traditional “continuous” x-ray, and we compress the output time of that power into such a small fraction of time that we’re able to capture dynamic events that happen in the order of km/s speeds.
Our flash X-ray systems enable scientists and researchers to freeze time and study dynamic processes inside materials and environments that aren’t accessible with optical methods.
Endless possibilities
We’re always fascinated to hear when a research team finds a new application for our flash X-ray technology. Our instruments have been used across a diverse range of applications and they’re built with such precision, that they can be used to study hypervelocity impacts of materials colliding with objects like space debris that’s moving at 15 km/s. At that speed, materials vaporise on impact.
You may not be studying hypervelocity dynamics, but it’s likely one of our systems is a perfect fit for your research.
We’ve listened and learned from our customers, and we’ve created a robust line of products that a research team can depend on. And we’ve been refining it for more than 50 years!
Long-life dependability
Reliability is a top requirement, so we’ve built our X-ray tubes without glass – they’re virtually indestructible. We use solid-core high voltage cables to connect our pulsers and X-ray tubes so there are no leaking cables. And our 1mm anode gives sharp images.
Flexibility is in the dna of all our systems. With each system, a researcher has a sliding scale where they can fine tune both the energy and intensity of the flash X-ray they need to generate based on the materials and environment they’re working with.
We’ve designed our systems to be modular. A customer can buy one of our systems today, and later on have it converted or “upgraded” to become one of our other systems, that works with a different range of energy, to match changing research requirements.
Our systems are easy to use. We’ve built in a level of user friendliness that really stands out. From field swappable anodes to super fast charging times to portability – one person can easily configure a setup in the lab or in the field.
