Improve your failure analysis to reduce or prevent breaks during collisions
Stop guessing how breaks occur
Are you ready to stop guessing how breaks occur when you can’t see them happening? Flash X-ray takes your R&D to the next level, so you can see inside objects during collisions.
Freeze time and capture motion
X-rays with enough power to capture images of motion have a significant advantage over optical imaging – they allow you to see the nearly impossible. Flash X-rays deliver the power of a continuous X-ray source in just 20ns! That means you get the contrast of a 1-second recording within a time period so short it enables you to freeze the motion of fast-moving objects.
Imagine your possibilities
To illustrate the technique of Flash X-ray technology, we captured the crash of an egg hitting the floor. This MAT (multi-anode tube) flash X-ray sequence of images demonstrates the possibility of monitoring the effects of helmets or air bags during collisions or how the interior of a mobile phone is affected when it’s dropped.
As the egg collides with the surface of the floor, the shell breaks, and flash X-rays make it possible to monitor the interior of the egg. You can now see how the air bubble moves from the side to the top during the dynamic event. This is a simple experiment, but it reveals the possibility to capture information from a moving object that just isn’t possible to deduce from a post-mortem examination of the object under study.
Robustness and durability can make the difference between success or failure of a product. Do you know which parts of a mobile phone interior are the weakest and most likely to break on impact? Flash X-rays can give you the information you need in order to reduce or prevent breaks from occurring during collisions.
